Senate Resolution No. 1842 was passed in 2005 to honor
and
commend the Anthony, Kansas 9/11 Memorial as the
official Kansas
9/11 Memorial for 2005 and 2006. This year, HB 2595
would make
that designation permanent.
Proponents of the bill included Representatives Dennis
McKinney
and Bill McCreary, and members of the Anthony 9/11
Commission.
The Anthony 9/11 Commission funded the memorial through
private
donations and fundraising. The Commission designed the
memorial
to include steel from the World Trade Center, limestone
from the wall
of the Pentagon and soil from the crash site in
Pennsylvania.
There were no opponents to the bill.
The fiscal note from the Director of Budget states that
HB 2595
would have no fiscal effect.
